Politico: Don’t Get Mad Get Even

Governor Kathy Hochul urged New York City voters to back Ballot Proposal 6, which would move city elections to presidential years, saying it would increase turnout and help Democrats. She rejected claims the shift targets progressives, and, after Republicans lost in state court, called their new federal suit to block even-year local elections outside the city “desperate” and “wasting our time.” Campaigning on the Upper East Side with the Yes on Affordable Housing super PAC, she promoted ballot proposals 2–5 to expedite affordable housing construction and said reporters should ask candidates about the measures; she has not spoken with Mamdani.

“I want Democrats, OK?” Governor Hochul said. “All I know is, we have parts of our city where it is hard to elect Democrats, period.”
