Former New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said “I fear that moving to even-number years will take attention away from local issues and will advantage candidates with wealth or fame. I urge all New Yorkers to vote NO on Ballot Proposal 6.”
New York City Democratic District Leader for the 65th Assembly District, Paul Newell, published an op-ed in opposition of the NYC Even Year Election Law. He states, “The proposal would reduce turnout in the local elections that matter, confuse voters, increase the influence of special interest money, hobble the Board of Elections, and even potentially expose some of our neighbors to deportation.”
